This song is ripe with themes of revolution; indeed, it is a lingering message for those of our time who would dare to pick up that banner and run with it. Ultimately, it is a message for everyone because this system will rip all of us apart one by one. Once, I heard someone say: We hang together, or they'll hang us separately. Here are some of the profound lines in the song:

This Scottish rock from the South side of Glasgow has always been one of my favorites. This particular song with lead singer Jim kerr was a world wide hit in 1985. It's a great song to wake up too.

There certain aspects about a song like this that resonate so strongly even today. Two of the most notable are as follows: It was sung by a black rock band - and regardless of what forward-looking whites or high-minded blacks  would like you  to believe, such a fact still bears mentioning; second, there was thoughtful purpose behind the words of Cory Glover (lead singer) ...especially these:

#2 Kyrie by Mr. Mister (1986)

This song Kyrie, κύριος (kyrios) in Greek, means Oh Lord.  So, when lead singer Richard Page sings,"Kýrie, eléison" - which you can just barely make out - he is saying,"Oh Lord, have mercy..."

It's a beautiful song with an invigorating sense of fearlessness.
