#37 Becoming an Empathic Civilisation

Posted by Tarus on Tuesday, November 9, 2010, In : Clash of Cultures

Transcending the limited power of a multiplicity of cultures squabbling over their place in the world ...including the one (African),  THIS website advocates, is ultimately the big idea. I cannot overestimate the need for all of us (black, white, brown, & yellow) to see each other as one big family. However, blacks won't be invited to the table as serious contributors- if @all; I'm trying to get them/you, to see that! Blacks (& definitely NOT the ones whose only real interest is in making mon...

#24 Fight for each other

Posted by Lamont Cranston on Friday, October 22, 2010, In : Brothas & Sistahs

I can recall a few times as a preteen listening and then laughing at the horrendous jokes told by the rest of us in the direction of newbie Haitian kids. Sure, I felt some guilt but many times I was just trying to stay out of the limelight myself; having returned from the continent of Africa, I too, had been the butt of similar jokes. Such is the nature of prepubescent kids. Quite frankly, I believe that to a certain extent, this sort of tussle is not only inevitable but essential for the hea...

#23 You've gotta get MAD!!!

Posted by Lamont Cranston on Tuesday, October 19, 2010, In : Book & Movie Reviews

It looks like the French are the only ones who get it when we talk about bringing runaway governments to heel! As the global economy continues to come undone because of the over-production of goods at cheap labor prices in the third world countries and the hollowing-out of manufacturing jobs in developed ones (that's us), an undeniable race to the bottom comes sharply into focus; that is to say, state and local municipalities will cut desperately needed public services, which translates to: c...

#21 Exit Windows, Enter Linux

Posted by Tarus on Thursday, October 14, 2010, In : Did you know...?

Did you know that there is a viable alternative to using the proprietary Windows OS (Operating System) altogether?

It's called Linux, named for the Linux kernel written by Finnish computer software engineer, Linus Torvalds in 1991. It was designed as a portable-Unix-type operating system. The wonderful thing about Linux is that it operates on an Open Source Ideology or Initiative; essentially that means, that anyone can manipulate the (source) code, as it is made readily available to all. How...

#13 Alright by Ny Oil

Posted by Tarus on Wednesday, September 29, 2010, In : Brothas & Sistahs

This one is dedicated to all the beautiful black sistahs out there who won't give up on us (the brothas) despite the odds. We all know that there are no easy answers to the collective problems that beset us, but continue to believe in yourselves and your people, it'll be alright!  The following words are from this song:

You understand that I'm a real black man (I'll do the)
best that I can, in constant demand (and ah)
utriculated, my emotions so syncopated
You gravitatin' cuz my pull is so unde...

#11 Extian

Posted by Tarus on Monday, September 27, 2010, In : Brothas & Sistahs

I love this song. It is a well put together piece which sketches out only a few reasons why Christianity and perhaps other major religions are losing their flock. Though many blacks are of this religion, it is truly disconcerting to find so few that are capable of explaining their belief system with even a modest level of competency - And I am speaking of those who've been in the 'faith' for some time. If you have sensitive ears turn away. For me, it is always refreshing to see one of our own...
