#30 Sort of Revolution by Fink

Posted by Tarus on Sunday, October 31, 2010, In : Best Music Reviews...

I heard this song @the end of episode 3 season 2 of Stargate Universe (SGU).  It was very moving episode. Unfortunately, one of the main characters was left behind trying to make sure his fellow soldiers could leave safely while at the same time trying to restore vital ship functions. He was surrounded  by hostiles and there was absolutely no way to retrieve him in time.

If you like the cinematic version of this song, consider to the original; it's just as good (Click here).

#29 Have a Vision

Posted by Tarus on Friday, October 29, 2010, In : Brothas & Sistahs

On our way home from Borders (A Local Bookstore) some nearly two years ago, my then-adolescent sister and I engaged an interesting conversation. I noted another teenager walking along the same path with his friends. "Look at this cat,"I mentioned with feigned disapproval,"he doesn't look like much does he?" His jeans were sagging with boxers showing. She agreed with casual disregard. "However," I said sounding conspiratorial with eye brows furrowed attempting to draw more of her interest,"wha...

#28 Chem Trials

Posted by Tarus on Wednesday, October 27, 2010, In : Did you know...?

We don't know who struck first, us or them. But we do know it was us that scorched the sky.
- Morpheus, Captain of the Nebuchadnezzar
(The Matrix 1999)

In the new documentary by reality zone, what in the world are they spraying, we get a first hand look at what sinister and certainly unwarranted liberties governments and other unknown clandestine entities have taken on our skies. They are spraying something! So find out what! And find out why!

Ultimately the question is this: By what secret ...

#27 The Lynch Mob

Posted by Lamont Cranston on Tuesday, October 26, 2010, In : Brothas & Sistahs

This video is for all those chumps who heartily embrace black rappers that spurn their own black people. Why listen to them at all!? Those cowards and their lyrics have nothing to offer the people but self-hate, lasciviousness, and more violence. Maybe they should all get Lynched!

Warning:
Explicit Lyrics!

#26 Alive & Kicking by Simple Minds (1985)

Posted by Tarus on Monday, October 25, 2010, In : Best Music Reviews...

This Scottish rock from the South side of Glasgow has always been one of my favorites. This particular song with lead singer Jim kerr was a world wide hit in 1985. It's a great song to wake up too.

#25 Invasive MO of The MDPD

Posted by Lamont Cranston on Saturday, October 23, 2010, In : Did you know...?

Did you know that the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has only approved test use of unmanned aircraft drones for the Miami-Dade Police Department?

Apparently, this constitutes their new modus operandi (MO). Of course, it's all for those damnable drug smugglers...Right! Think again! In an article by Z Magazine titled, Drones Over America by Mike Reizman [Z magazine, Issue September 2010], the FAA has also set up for implementation of this technology in Miami civilian law-enforcement. Wh...

#24 Fight for each other

Posted by Lamont Cranston on Friday, October 22, 2010, In : Brothas & Sistahs

I can recall a few times as a preteen listening and then laughing at the horrendous jokes told by the rest of us in the direction of newbie Haitian kids. Sure, I felt some guilt but many times I was just trying to stay out of the limelight myself; having returned from the continent of Africa, I too, had been the butt of similar jokes. Such is the nature of prepubescent kids. Quite frankly, I believe that to a certain extent, this sort of tussle is not only inevitable but essential for the hea...

#23 You've gotta get MAD!!!

Posted by Lamont Cranston on Tuesday, October 19, 2010, In : Book & Movie Reviews

It looks like the French are the only ones who get it when we talk about bringing runaway governments to heel! As the global economy continues to come undone because of the over-production of goods at cheap labor prices in the third world countries and the hollowing-out of manufacturing jobs in developed ones (that's us), an undeniable race to the bottom comes sharply into focus; that is to say, state and local municipalities will cut desperately needed public services, which translates to: c...

#22 Reconnaissance

Posted by Tarus on Friday, October 15, 2010, In : The Art of War

A recon gyrene in an avatar body. <Whoa!> That's a potent mix...give(s) me the goosebumps. Such a marine could provide the Intel I need right on the ground...right in the hostile's camp. Look Sully, I want you to learn these savages from the inside. I want you to gain their trust. I need to know how to force their cooperation or how to hammer them hard if they won't.
- Coronel Quaritch, Avatar (2009)

One of the primary aims of an alliance outside the usually altruistic pledges of assistance  ...

#21 Exit Windows, Enter Linux

Posted by Tarus on Thursday, October 14, 2010, In : Did you know...?

Did you know that there is a viable alternative to using the proprietary Windows OS (Operating System) altogether?

It's called Linux, named for the Linux kernel written by Finnish computer software engineer, Linus Torvalds in 1991. It was designed as a portable-Unix-type operating system. The wonderful thing about Linux is that it operates on an Open Source Ideology or Initiative; essentially that means, that anyone can manipulate the (source) code, as it is made readily available to all. How...

#20 Mind over Matter

Posted by Tarus on Wednesday, October 13, 2010, In : Did you know...?

Did you know that it is very much indeed possible to break through the barricades of conventional thought and literally bend life in your direction?

Typically, so many of us are bogged down by the incessant demands of mere subsistence, that we never really give sufficient time to the shaping of our minds in the hopes of ascertaining what it is really, we want to achieve. Worse than this however, is the short-circuiting of a burgeoning desire/passion in some individual young or old by some gua...

#19 Stay Current

Posted by Tarus on Sunday, October 10, 2010, In : Brothas & Sistahs

In a church I no longer attend, one the preachers use to encourage us to read the news everyday. He said once,"How can you help save a world you know nothing about?"  He's no longer there, unfortunately, but the lesson for me was reinforced nevertheless. In the 80's & 90's, most of us grew up with parents who were somewhat cognizant of the real issues at hand surrounding their communities and the globe at large. Today's news is racked with so much frivolity and entertainment that the general ...

#18 Tv Land Addicts

Posted by Lamont Cranston on Thursday, October 7, 2010, In : Book & Movie Reviews

This clip is from a movie back in 1976 titled, Network. It so wonderfully puts into clear and concise wording, the truest ambitions of those who run popular media. Of course, while it refers to an age in which television was the dominant source of instant information, it can most certainly be applied to just about any modern device as ubiquitous as the Ipod of today. The point is that the common people are no longer accustomed to thinking for themselves, even though they believe they are. Hyp...

#17 Frienemies & Enemies

Posted by Tarus on Wednesday, October 6, 2010, In : Brothas & Sistahs

A righteous man is cautious in Friendship, but the way of the wicked leads them astray...

- Proverbs 12:26

[A brief convo w/my sister long time ago]

Jess, I notice that some of your friends have said some pretty outrageous things.  No one is perfect obviously and we all have quirks, but some of these things cannot be explained away so easily. They should begin to make you doubt them or at least question their motives. You may have to eliminate some of these characters from your facebook account...

#16 Something In The Water

Posted by Lamont Cranston on Monday, October 4, 2010, In : Did you know...?

Did you know that we are drinking fluoridated-water everyday? Fluoride, sounds familiar doesn't it? Well, that's because many of us brush our teeth with toothpaste containing that very substance. Believe it or not, there are untold dangers regarding our consumption of this highly toxic by-product of smelting ore for precious metals. Here are but a few reasons to be concerned and perhaps enough to conduct your own investigations: It is an acute toxin with a rating just above that of (get this)...

#15 Greet each other

Posted by Tarus on Sunday, October 3, 2010, In : Brothas & Sistahs

Propaganda, under the guise of popular media has made the idea of looking at another black person (especially someone of the opposite sex) without some degree of mistrust or apprehension, wholly inconceivable to the average black person.  The movies that come out of Hollywood portraying our people as shysters, cooning-clowns, or the trusty side-kick confidant cannot be numbered. For example: We've all become accustomed to seeing on-screen white romance go through the typical ups & downs of an...

#14 Many will strike our few

Posted by Tarus on Friday, October 1, 2010, In : The Art of War

The expert commander strikes only when the situation assures victory. To create such a situation is the ultimate responsibility of generalship. Before he gives battle, the superior general causes the enemy to disperse. When the enemy disperses and attempts to defend everywhere he is weak everywhere, and at the selected points many will be able to strike his few. (p.42)
- The Art of War (6th c.)

The politics of divide and conquer is an old strategy. Strangely enough however, so few of us can ea...
