So far in this economic downturn, blacks have lost the most regarding actual property holdings. While the jury is still out in estimating precise figures, a general consensus has already been reached; we blacks have lost some two-thirds of all equity nation-wide. You may have heard this expression before: When America sneezes, Blacks get the flu.
Some of you may begin to realize that Multiculturalism, like the unicorn - a mythological beast, serves only to tickle the imagination that one may be given wholly to such flights of fancy and bewilderment rendering them absolutely defenseless by a hopeless and hapless preoccupation that they may be caught unawares by the stratagems of other ethnic groups encroaching into now formally black enclaves. When will we blacks get into the serious work of looking out for our own collective interest and survival? Are we so anxious to fit into white society or wherever we can get in? We measure ourselves by the standards of others so much so that there now seems to be an impassable gulf between middle-income and poor blacks - an issue that has only been thoroughly researched in the last decade by academia. In New York some black Caribbean congresswomen wanted there to be a new classification by the Census Bureau recognizing Caribbean Americans separately from blacks. If the Latinos can remain united, why should it be so difficult for us? Isn't it known that a cord of three strands is not quickly broken? Why is the black bourgeoisie turning out to be more niggardly than neighborly? Haven't they read the Miseducation of the Negro by Carter G. Woodson of the 1930's by now? What will it take for us to truly be United? Oh wait I got it, how about a crisis...
