Under: Society
I've decided to start this series of blogs with a snippet of a conversation I had with my brother only days ago. It was about the quiet emergence of this new Orwellian State and particularly about the very coordinated efforts of both the political and corporate sectors of our beloved Republic colluding to undermine and curtail the powers of the Constitution, which are sacrosanct. So I asked him if he’s ever even read the Constitution. He answers with a dubious yes and then fires back: What have you done, talk!? Yes! Abolitionist spoke, revolutionaries ranted, and Jesus preached! Talking is how ideas are transmitted. Of course the big idea, I explain, is to reach and amass a significant number of people to affect substantive changes, and not necessarily the popularized commercial brand of hope touted by the Obama Administration like those before. It was all water under the bridge for him though. Overall, his outlook was so characteristic of the typical American who is usually unconcerned and aloof. Doubtless, our perspectives on these and other pertinent matters rarely ever coincide. He will occasionally show an amazing leap forward in understanding just how the dots connect. However, things have not yet become desperate enough in our society to hold his interest and peek his curiosity. My question is: Should they have to be? These are precisely the kinds of people that must be reached. The economy has most of us frantically running for the exits looking to secure our own welfare without realizing that an attack on one is an attack on all. We can stand together, or we will surely fall separately!
