Belief by John Mayer (last blog entry)

Posted by Tarus on Thursday, December 31, 2009, In : Fav Music Selections
Due to necessity, theleftflank.com will not be shutting down given its much needed revolutionary aims. Still, this will be the very last blog entry for this particular thread. It's entire development from start to finish has truly been a rewarding experience, indeed a labor of love. Stay tuned however, for occasional updates in the other categories in the selection menu. Incidentally, this song seemed a fitting conclusion. I hope you all enjoy it as much as I do. Just remember, we can change ...

The Tower That ate People - Peter Gabriel

Posted by Tarus on Tuesday, November 24, 2009, In : Fav Music Selections
The world is changing, and not necessarily for the better!  But we can fix that; those of us who are conscious are obligated by the dictates of democracy, freedom, and justice for all to awaken our fellow man.  We must tell it like it is, till there is no misunderstanding!

Running up that Hill - Placebo

Posted by Tarus on Friday, November 20, 2009, In : Fav Music Selections
This is a powerful song. I dedicate it to all those who are still fighting to wake people up to the horrific realities of our  government and other institutions of control that invariably resort to corruption, repression, and subterfuge. Our weapons are persistence, hope, and love. Keep at it guys!

If anyone one (falls in love) by Stevie Nicks

Posted by Tarus on Saturday, October 31, 2009, In : Fav Music Selections
I've always been a big fan of 80's music. I grew up listening to this stuff; I saw my parents dance together in the living-room to this music and then invite me and my siblings to join them when they saw us laughing. I have fond memories of those times; things were much simpler in the age of innocence and the music reflected that in more ways than one. These days however,  it seems all are born guilty. I guess what I'm trying to say is that the 80's constitute a significant part of my DNA. Un...

Not Meant for me - Wayne Static

Posted by Tarus on Sunday, October 11, 2009, In : Fav Music Selections
This song depicts another side of me some might be surprised to see. I like Rock just as much as I like rap.  They're both just about the same in fact. I try not to dip into either of them too often, their flames tend to devour you whole. Every now and then is good though, helps keep the edge.  This song is mostly a war song! ...At least for me, but its all relative.

Warning
: It is violent and contains profanity.

Runnin by Tupac & Biggie

Posted by Tarus on Tuesday, September 22, 2009, In : Fav Music Selections
To: Blacks of  All Cultural Distinctions

Despite our linguistic and Religious differences, we are not enemies! I think our disunity presently is due more to class and education than anything else. Furthermore, the economic paradigm of Capitalism in this rapidly diminishing economy will pigeonhole us into a bottleneck forcing us to become bitter adversaries as we fight over the remaining jobs at half the pay like ravenous dogs! Better wake UP! Cuz, all we really got...is each other!

Warning: E...

Love only love by Imaj

Posted by Tarus on Wednesday, September 9, 2009, In : Fav Music Selections
Some of you believe I'm too radical and to that I reply,"Well, that's because you're not radical enough and you don't know much about anything. Worst yet, the little you do know, does not even provoke within you any fury, much less any  significant action." In an Ideal world, there would be no need for radicals!

Think of it this way: Society rages because it has too! Wealth is too highly aggregated in the hands of a few. The system is broken...always was, always will be until we realize that ...

SinnerMan by Nina Simone

Posted by Tarus on Tuesday, September 8, 2009, In : Fav Music Selections
You're about to watch a very witty scene from the movie, The Thomas Crown Affair - one of my favorites. This song  by the way is incomparable and carries a great deal of significance.  It's singer-writer,  Nina Simone (a singer par excellence),  was a staunch advocate for Civil Rights. Passionate  songs like this inspired many to go beyond the confines of conventional thinking. A special tribute will have to be made in her honor at a later time. For now enjoy the video.

Moonlight by Katsuki Yukari

Posted by Tarus on Thursday, September 3, 2009, In : Fav Music Selections
This new category consisting of music videos will convey the sincere appreciation and sometimes, deep inner turmoil  I have regarding our shared-humanity in a way mere words cannot.

Incidentally, when I first heard this song I was immediately taken by it. The innocence in this burgeoning relationship between the two characters of this Japanese anime feature is endearing.

Changes by Tupac

Posted by Tarus on Saturday, August 29, 2009, In : Fav Music Selections
To: Blacks of All Cultural Distinctions

We can change our reality, but only together. This union must transcend religion, class, sexual orientation, and other minor nuances like etiquette and dress; otherwise, you can kiss our collective futures goodbye. We'll destroy ourselves and other opportunistic ethnic groups waiting in the wings with quietly step over our carcasses and  pick up the pieces for themselves or they'll just gentrify us outta there!
