I am always fascinated by the resilience of my African people, whatever their country of origin. Nigeria however, holds a special place in my heart - it being my father's native land. Beset by the natural birthing pains of any burgeoning nation, Nigeria would likewise have to forge it's own destiny out of rock and steel. Though, with the discovery of petroleum in the Biafran regions came the subtle goading by Western agents upon the unsuspecting inhabitants to seek the formation of their very own state apart from the whole (that
robber barons and oil tycoons from developed nations can more easily exploit it for their own selfish ends of course!) The white journalist in this film, were shamelessly feigning a sincere interest in the well-being of these "oppressed but brave people" who innocently found themselves besieged by their countrymen and were suddenly being grounded into oblivion w/o any provocation whatsoever. All Nigerians nevertheless, would soon realize the true motives behind the actions of these doting journalist a.k.a. propagandists upon the Biafrans; their job was to essentially drive an even greater wedge between East & West. How else can one explain such an immediate show of Western sympathy coming down on the side of the Biafrans even though they (the Biafrans) were somewhat slow to see through their duplicity. Israelis were not-surprisingly also apart of this foray and conferred an almost Jew-like quality on the Biafrans, but they carelessly did not calculate someone finding out how they assisted the  white South African apartheid regime in the repression and exploitation of black people. This is the principle reason why Israeli & Nigerian relations are still strained even to this day and therefore renders any alliance a tenuous one at best. Does the reader still doubt this? Then I ask you pointedly: Why did Westerners so eagerly sell us guns to kill our brothers instead of Mahindra tractors to work the land? Heavens! In their insatiable greed, they did not even think to provide the Biafran soldiers with adequate  training, let alone furnish them with proper attire.
