Turning the Page

Posted by Tarus on Saturday, October 31, 2009, In : Quotes & Proverbs
Just as crucially, the decline and eventual disappearance of AWS less than a decade ago revealed what a critical role it had in shaping the African literary imagination. Today Africa, even with the emergent local noise of FM radio and the immediacy of the internet, has grown strange to itself. Nations, to paraphrase philosopher Stephen Chan, are built on words. Because that supply of words has run dry, African writers of my generation have begin to talk to their readers at home through a...

If anyone one (falls in love) by Stevie Nicks

Posted by Tarus on Saturday, October 31, 2009, In : Fav Music Selections
I've always been a big fan of 80's music. I grew up listening to this stuff; I saw my parents dance together in the living-room to this music and then invite me and my siblings to join them when they saw us laughing. I have fond memories of those times; things were much simpler in the age of innocence and the music reflected that in more ways than one. These days however,  it seems all are born guilty. I guess what I'm trying to say is that the 80's constitute a significant part of my DNA. Un...

Message to the Middle & Upper Class Blacks

Posted by Tarus on Wednesday, October 28, 2009, In : Quotes & Proverbs
No people can go forward when the majority of those who should know better have chosen to go backward, but this is exactly what most of our mis-leaders do. Not being learned in the history and background of the[ir] race, they figure out that there is no hope for the masses; and they decide, then, that the best thing they can do is to exploit these people for all they can and use the accumulations selfishly. Such persons have no vision and therefore perish at their own hands.

It is an injustic...

I know it's hard, but don't give up!

Posted by Tarus on Tuesday, October 27, 2009, In : Quotes & Proverbs
Xenophon stepped up the pace of his harangue, calling upon the men to seek out their brothers who might be too weak or demoralized to emerge from the snow, pleading with them to build their fires high and warm themselves. He denied the bitter cold and threw off his cloak, stripping himself naked in the biting air as if for his morning exercises, insisting that he felt no discomfort. He seized an axe that had been struck into a tree and began to noisily hack at a rotten stump, until before my ...

Goldman Sachs & The New Slavery

Posted by Tarus on Saturday, October 24, 2009, In : Economics

As usual, Max & Stacy pull no punches in their dissemination of this seemingly incredible info.
Obama's Manufacturing Czar Ron Bloom, speaks openly but rather comically regarding our fictitious American free market under which, little people are suffering.  Sometimes, their contempt for poor folk can be seen even through a slip of the tongue.  I wonder though, is the pretext of hope and good will still more preferable than hard facts on the ground?

The American Ruling Class

Posted by Tarus on Friday, October 23, 2009, In : Society

Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor.
All this I will give you, he said, if you will bow down and worship me - Matthew 4:8-9.

Which side will you land on @the end of the day? Most assume the side of God...but we all know that's not true. If you like the trailer of this interesting little experiment, I'd encourage you to watch the entire film by clicking here.

Frank Herbert, the man behind the greatest Sci-Fi Saga Ever

Posted by Tarus on Thursday, October 22, 2009, In : Encouragement

There aren't many people for whom I am easily compelled to extol...maybe to an almost shameless degree of childlike gleefulness. I've never met him, and yet I feel like I know him so well through his work. His greatest legacy, The Dune Chronicles, will doubtless be read by generations to come. I think the most notable quality of his comprehensive work is his easy explanation of the intricacies and interrelatedness of all the major industries/factions of life and the politics behind which they...

Columbus Day... A hoax, if I ever saw one

Posted by Tarus on Wednesday, October 14, 2009, In : History
Consider the present day euphoria over something that took place hundreds of years ago with careful scrutiny, as it is waning and rightfully so. The following clips illuminate the reasons why Columbus day and the history upon which it stands merits no value whatsoever. Be enlightened by these keepers of African lore. And for those of you (black & white) who tend to look upon African historians with doubt and suspicion, I have included a link to the Dr. Katherine Albrecht Show of Monday Oct. ...

Not Meant for me - Wayne Static

Posted by Tarus on Sunday, October 11, 2009, In : Fav Music Selections
This song depicts another side of me some might be surprised to see. I like Rock just as much as I like rap.  They're both just about the same in fact. I try not to dip into either of them too often, their flames tend to devour you whole. Every now and then is good though, helps keep the edge.  This song is mostly a war song! ...At least for me, but its all relative.

Warning
: It is violent and contains profanity.

Bastards of the Party

Posted by Tarus on Sunday, October 11, 2009, In : History
So often we hear of the black gangs in L.A. as an altogether destructive force whose only purpose was to wreak havoc on the innocently benevolent white neighborhoods just a stone's throw away. Their true histories, however, were shrouded and mired in baseless accusations.

When I first saw this film some years back, I remember just really being cut to the heart so much that I cried bitterly because these gangs were initially formed to protect blacks from the random acts of white mob violence t...

My Sister's Education

Posted by Tarus on Saturday, October 10, 2009, In : Musings

The following words were for my adolescent sister who had scored well over 1200 on her SAT's: Even though you have achieved high marks in your academic career thus far despite being a product of the public school system (, it doesn't necessarily offer the kind of development or promise that is needed in the black community - especially if our educational system is racked with ineffective and outdated methods - not to mention hidden agendas. If anything, it denotes conformity at the very first...

The Great Dictator

Naysayers will always try to dissuade you from tempting fate, but you must not be daunted by conventional thinking or the unknown.  You must push forward to the infinite possibilities of living as a truly United  Society?

Imagine a world where the greed of those @the top no longer dictate and exploit those at the bottom. It is possible.

Just get your damn vaccine...

Posted by Tarus on Friday, October 2, 2009, In : Society

Now, they are talking about forcing us to take the vaccine if too many of us refuse!  My God, they even have drills preparing for this occasion. Since when did they (the government) become so concerned with our health & safety?  They didn't seem to give a damn...having waited nearly a week before they started sending in the National Guard to assist and save victims of Katrina! I know its not because they fear the rapid spreading of this H1N1 flu pandemic, since vaccines presumably inoculate a...
